How do I stop the screen turning itself back on

Mogul is a cool phone and I found many "tweaks" to make it work better. But one thing that still bugs the crap out of me is the thing will turn the screen back on for no reason. Just sitting there with a good signal, no incoming calls or messages, all apps closed. It only really bothers me cause it dialed the last number automatically several times while on my hip. It turns itself on then somewhere I bump the buttons to make it dial. Scarry!

How do I stop this? Registry setting?

Re: How do I stop the screen turning itself back on

I've actually been searching for an answer to this too. It's mostly annoying when I have it plugged in to the USB, or AC adapter, because it won't turn the screen back off by itself. It will just sit there, on for hours. It's probably always done this, but I just recently noticed it. I think it either has to do w/ active sync or pocket outlook checking the mail. I'd love if I could figure out a way to keep active sync from automatically opening *ever*, even on boot.

Just change the power settings to turn off the device when using an external power source. Mine will come back on when on usb, but never on the ac or battery itself. But, I don't have Direct Push or it checking for email. However, I might not notice it due to the number of text messages I receive in a days time.

Still never found the answer for this but it does seem to do it when going out and back in to a signal. Caught it on my kitchen counter where I get a crappy signal.

Re: How do I stop the screen turning itself back on

One thing I have noticed on this windows mobile device is that there is a setting to lock all buttons when the power is off except for the power button. I found myself bumping the phone while on my hip and was always butt dialing. This might be totally off the mark but it's worth a shot. To turn it off go to start > settings> system > key lock.

Under Settings/Sounds and Notifications uncheck the "Display message on screen" box under the "Connection established" and "Connection disconnected" events, this will prevent the screen from coming on when you gain or lose a connection. You can browse through the other events and turn off the screen notification as well depending on your preferences.

As for accidentally dialing someone after the screen turns on: You can avoid that issue by locking your phone before you put it in your pocket. Even if you manage to turn it on somehow you won't be able to dial out until you unlock it. The lock button is under the Personal tab of the Settings screen, but there are several ways to map it to your Today screen.

I'm new here but I'm on my 4th PPC (SX56, SX66, XV6700 and now XV6800) since 2002. I have a lot of reading to do to catch up with the rest of you!

Dave
