Question Has anyone upgraded their Verizon VX6800 to 6.1+...?!

Well, I've had my Verizon Mogul/Titan/VX6800 for the past three months and have modded its home theme using both PhoneAlarm and Ultimate Launcher. I keep reading about folks from other cell phone carriers that have upgraded their devices to the latest and greatest ROM & Radios. Some have warned about one or another conflict. Others are extolling their greatest satisfaction with their upgrading efforts.

That said, has anyone who is using Verizon had success doing an upgrade? (If so, what upgrade files did you use, and what changes/improvements did you realize?)

Did you let the phone load the added ROM files from Verizon - after the reboot?

What are the files and programs that you are using?

Does the latest Radio improve the sending and reception of Photos and Videos on MMS...?

How is your actual phone use... any more/less bars? ...any better connection/dropped calls?

How is the battery life - now that you've upgraded?

Lastly, on the "down side"... are there any negatives that you've noted...?

I know I'm not the ONLY person using Verizon as my cell phone service provider, so I know this information will be of interest to many other PPCgeekers out there!

I look forward to your replies!

Thanks for sharing!

Stay safe.

Re: Have anyone with a Verizon VX6800 upgraded to 6.1+...?!

I upgraded my (November 07) 6800 last month to Sprints new ROM and Radio (stopped the extROM load), and then to N2C's 5060. Just flashed to 5065 the other day.

What I noticed was:
-More base memory
-extROM unlocked and 9MB+ free for the using
-GPS enabled
-N2C's neu utilities as well as programs I use pre-loaded
-Faster ppc all around, probably 25% or so faster
-RevA enabled and in use resulting in faster internet

I only have a few programs loaded of my own:
-Resco explorer
-Resco registry editor
-GPSViewer
-MS Live Search
-SRSWOW
-SelectRadio
-SPB Weather
-SPB Mobile Shell 2.1 w/RoboDad Skin

Zippy phone... everything works that I use (don't know about SMS & other stuff that I don't use). Battery life is about the same, pretty good for me: I plug in frequently, but have gone all day with moderate use.

I flashed my 6800 to DCD2.3.2. Just followed the instructions up on the sticky and everything went well. The only real downside is I get more dropped calls than when I was on the stock ROM. I also seem to have less bars. I'm planning on flashing to DCD's 3.0.4 pretty soon. But overall i like it better than stock. If your considering flashing, do it just read everything carefully the first time around and everything is easy after that.

umm, i believe your mismatching the radio and rom. 2.XX needs 3.27 radio, otherwise it causes problems. to stop dropped calls (and most likely gain your bars back), upgrade to 3.XX as soon as possible. you could start getting some serious errors soon.

I really like the 6.1 features with Rev A. However, my bluetooth headset is having problems answering calls...

Need to be brave to load some custom ROMs.

Thanks for the reply man. I'll probably flash this wknd. I know the radio and ROM are matched. I even Flashed before the new ROM and radio came out. But I have been getting more errors lately like you stated. Hopefully 3.XX will fix it.

Re: Have anyone with a Verizon VX6800 upgraded to 6.1+...?!

I'm a novice, but can follow directions pretty well. I have the Verizon vx6800 and I'm please with it performance so far. I do want to unlock all of it potentional features. I'm reading about ROM and Radio, but I do not understand. Also, upgrades like Window Mobile 6.1, & MR1. Please give me a quick education on what I should do.
