GPS Always on Program?

I was wondering if anyone knew of a program that keeps the gps on. currently it shuts off after a certain amount of inactivity, which i don't really like...

Re: GPS Always on Program?

navizon works for me.. they disabled the cell radio side of it, so if you have your wifi switch off, then it's just keeping the gps on.. you can also tell it how often to update the location..***EDIT**this is for location tracking in full version, or required if on free *I think...******* 10-15sec default..
it "requires" ***\/\/\/\/\/**** an internet connection but for this purpose you should be fine.

***EDIT**
new beta available that re-enables cdma, works well, count seems accurate for cells, out of beta soon I hope...
also in the beta they say the requirement for a data connection on gps enabled devices is no longer required ***********

Re: GPS Always on Program?

You can try out GpsViewer1.5

link
http://www.hevis.com.hk/download/GpsViewer1.5.zip

It uses quite a bit of ram (1mb). But manages to keep the GPS on. Just keep it running in the background.

Re: GPS Always on Program?

If you want GPS to always be on, cook a rom without the GPSID components. You will see a small hit in battery life, but GPS will always be on (and you won't need to enable it with a launcher/toggler/background program).

Re: GPS Always on Program?

On GPSToday, remember that just hitting the red box will only keep the gps on for a while but if you slide from the red box to the compass or map (a red square will slide over) it will keep it on. It will bork the phone if you let it sleep at this point (at least on the XV6800 some progs when it sleeps with the GPS on will fail to restart the GPS once awake again), so go to options, settings, more, more, and check Keep Device Awake When Running in Persistant Mode.

Hope this helps...

Re: GPS Always on Program?

I might go the GPSID route. but for now i'm just using GPS viewer running in the background. I'm kinda looking for something that can start automatically through soft resets.

Re: GPS Always on Program?

I checked GPS viewer, and when i'm indoors for too long, or am running it for hours, it seems to get backlogged or something. anyways, doesn't seem to work. Navizon didn't work either. And GPSviewer wouldn't work through a soft reset.

I figure a rom w/o gpsid components would be my best route. but i'm not a chef-I've only used the kitchen on the surface level. any help would be awesome!
