Re: Who's running a lot of programs..??

it all depends on what the programs are and if they have any processes that run in the background and what other threads they invoke when used....short answer= yes this is very possible, no BS.

Mali Mali 357 04-21-2008 01:55 PM

Re: Who's running a lot of programs..??

i refuse to run all of those programs at one time, my phone would not stop freezing up, that's an ongoing problem with windows mobile, i run about no more than 15

Re: Who's running a lot of programs..??

nope..."shouldn't fawk up" anything doing a hard reset. might be a good idea, then install stuff one at a time and see whats hogging the memory and decide whether you really use/need it or maybe look for other software to perform the same function.

rajuabju 04-21-2008 03:00 PM

Re: Who's running a lot of programs..??

I have a lot of programs installed, but not all running at the same time.

Resco File Explorer + Registry & FTP Add-ins
Resco Photo Viewer
Resco Audio Recorder
Resco Radio
MemMaid
SKTools
PocketMechanic
Office Mobile
Adobe Reader
Google Maps
Live Search
Quick GPS
SPB Backup
SPB Weather
SPB Phone Suite
PDANET
PocketRAR
PocketIRC
Palringo
TCPMP
Windows Live
HTC Zip
Cyberon Voice Dialer
HTC Task Manager
NueLed
NueAudio
ClearTemp
About 10-15 Games

After boot, I generally have around 18.5MB free RAM. I keep the number of programs which load up at boot minimal.

I have about 75MB free in my main memory. I load all programs onto the phone, and only use my storage card to hold pictures/photos/music/video/email attachments and backup files.

I use SPB Backup everynight, and it soft resets my phone at around 4am, so each morning, my phone is fresh and ready to go.

Throughout the day, I use memmaid's reclaim ram feature 2-3 times, and I almost never go below 9mb free RAM, unless I have numerous programs loaded at the same time.

I use DCD's base ROM 3.0.4, with some of my own stuff cooked in.

Re: Who's running a lot of programs..??

Where are you all gettin those "HTC" programs? Are they hacks out of other models, or is there a website those can be downloaded from? The main HTC doesn't really have squat on it.
Thanks:???:

justpctech 04-21-2008 03:20 PM

Re: Who's running a lot of programs..??

Matty, you can check here on XDA-Developers for a lot of them. some have been pulled off other models of HTC phones but will work on the Titan.
All Extracted HTC Apps (cab & oem included)

Re: Who's running a lot of programs..??

well im gonna go for hard reset, an just redo this whole **** again cuz im encountering other lil problems too... "installed the Touch cam, an upon deletion it took my OEM camera with it so i had to reinstall an use mogul cam as an add-on which is BS", i installed opera mini an when i removed that it took PIE with it an my internet wasnt working so i had to addon Darkness's opera remover file to keep my internet working, just stupid little **** like that that i dont wanna have to worry about anymore... Hard resetting will fix all those stupid bs problems right an put me back to square one...

People keep mixing up the 256 megs of Storage for programs with the 64 Megs Ram. Installing programs in the 256 megs vs the MicroSD card does nothing to the 64 Megs Ram unless the application runs via a startup program or a registry change.

Memory leaks are another issue. I have been struggling to combat memory leaks for the last 6 months. Seem to have it finally battened down. I do use oxios (keep it on the Today screen, but I have found that with the current set of programs I do not see a memory leak anymore. Memory pops back up to 15 megs after I close running programs with Quickmenu X button or Zapit (currently assigned to a press of the Comm Manager button).

Using No2Chems 5060 Rom

Free Memory 15 Megs (stable) (was 24 megs following Rom install prior to all the apps added below)
Program Memory 94 Megs free

Quickmenu give a pretty nice battery/memory readout in the top right corner, may need to drop vistahide battery soon. although I do like the visual reminder.

Installed programs in main memory....

S2U2
Netfront 3.5
Thunderhawk 2
Big button dialer
Quick Menu
cLaunch
CodyPPC Camera 2
Pocket Artist
Duttthroy TaskManager
HandiTV
GpsGate
Google Maps

Opera 9
Double Launcher (Orthanc Software)
Oxios Memory
PDA Resources Zapit
Pocket CM Contacts (soon to be removed)
Pocket CM Keyboard 0.14
Pocketmax phonealarm
Pocktemax Phonealarm skin
Pointui Home
PPcgeeks Picsel
PPCsoft psShutXP
Quartz Dev Portamailcab
reensoft PIE plus

TCPMP
Vibra Switch
Webis pocket informant
Youtube Play

u just got served :). But the touch has to have that much memory because running programs from the sd card = corruption:disgust:

On my touch I keep netfront and slick up at all times and never run into memory issues

Yeah, which is why i only have 40MB free :)

I take it back, one program is installed on my SD card, TomTom, and that is by program design.

GhettoBSD 04-23-2008 07:20 PM

Re: Who's running a lot of programs..??

all of these are in my main memory!

PHM Registry editor, hudson mobile phone dashboard, google maps, skunkworks flash video bundle, ae software ae button plus, spb time, spb pocket plus, spb phone suite, spb mobile shell, spb backup (doesn't work with this rom anymore), dinarsoft memaid, webis flexmail 2007, tcpmp, burr oad software conversions in hand, nilisco flashlight app, hermledd & icnot (depreciated because of nueLED), GetSPC (for MSL#), nueLED, pocket nester for NES.

and i pretty much run most of those as boot!

I know it's probably a simple script, but what are you using to soft-reset at 4am?

GhettoBSD 04-23-2008 09:34 PM

Re: Who's running a lot of programs..??

SPB backup resets after it's done creating the backup file. So it's automated for him.

Anyway...... I normally have 11MB at startup.
Mainly because of Spb P+, WBA 2, WAD, PBreeze, PhoneAlaram, PWeather, and RTPlugin

pdub73 04-23-2008 10:47 PM

Re: Who's running a lot of programs..??

I run -

Photo Contacts pro4
Resco Explorer/w registry add in
Resco Pcture viewer
MemMaid
Spb Mobile shell
pocket MSN
Spb Pocket Plus
Google Maps
Slide 2 View
Pocket CM
TCPMP - with all the plugins
Handango Inhand
sliding sounds pack
touchpal

I thought I had a lot of programs but I guess not really...

on a soft reset I have 19.5 megs of program memory avail and 104.56 available storage space...I'm using dcd's 3.0.4 ROM...very clean and I try to minimize the amout of programs that are running on the Today screen, with Spb Pocket plus I can place icons to all my favorite programs for easy access...I also found that newer versions of some program don't hog as much ram as their predecessors...

Why would you not install it on your main memory instead of the Ext_rom? Far as I knew, there was no difference other than the fact the ext_rom has far less space available.

Installing onto main MEMORY != installing onto RAM.

Installing onto main MEMORY != installing onto RAM.

When you unlock your ExRom you gain 10 Megs ,Free space you didnt have. Once its unlocked for the most part your ExRom and main memory are almost the same. ( Some/few apps can't be installed in ExRom). The reason I install into my ExRom is to save space on my Maine. Its been this way for years, I did the same thing on my 6700 so I guess old habits die hard. I do know I'm not the only one that doe's this. As far as I know most people that unlock their ExRom do it to install apps to it. I can say this to, I don't install anything to my SD card.

Ah I see.

However you'd still be saving the same amount of space, if you installed on your main memory first. The ext_rom's 10megs of space will still be available if you run out of room on your main memory ;)

But, to each his own. Was just curious :)
