Re: Swimming Moguls

I usually keep my toilet lid closed if I'm in the bathroom with my phone, unless I'm sitting on it.

1) Take the battery and SD card out and soak the phone in 99.x% isoproyl alcohol to clean it. This probably won't be needed unless you dropped it in the ocean or something salty. Let it dry for a very long time, I'd wait 2 days.

2) I read you can put your wet phone in a bag full of rice and the rice will absorb the moisture.

LOL :P
The rice idea is a good one. Alcohol is not a good recommendation, as it's almost as bad as water for the electronics, and even 99.x% contains water.
Go to a craft store and get some silica gel used for drying flowers. Slip the phone in a sock and cover it with the silica gel in a closed container. It will be dry as a bone in an hour or two.

Re: Swimming Moguls

I get sketched out when I bring my phone into the bathroom. One of my old cell phones I would bring into the bathroom all the time. When I would shower and what not. Well after time the mositure from the shower got into the phone. It messed up the charger plug in. Freaking hot showers and Steam.

your good, i dont even take my phone in the bathroom, for some reason toilets/sinks and phones seem to be hyper-magnets to one another, so i just avoid the risk all together.

Re: Swimming Moguls

what ever method you use to dry the phone, you should be sure and leave the battery out while you do it, the flow of electricity through the metalic components will accelerate corrosion. My mogul had a dip in a snow drift when I was snowboarding, but it was still working, but when I pulled the case apart there was alot of moisture still in there, especially on the back of the LCD.

Re: Swimming Moguls

I have had 2 Moguls replaced from drops now and this will be my last. the first was i was walking by a tight area around a chair, the belt case came of my belt and fell to the floor inside of the case, fell to a wood floor and landed on a bare corner of the phone- power on button broken and could only power on by reset, turned off key guard and used any key to wake it up.
second time was from a 2 story roof top onto concrete and very similar damage but ( corner hit) but this time no power on, no anything. after 2 replacement phones i am super cautious now and just pray it dont fall again.

Perhaps you shouldn't take your Mogul snowboarding and on roofing excursions. Just a thought...
