accessing network folders?
Can someone tell me how to go about browsing network folders on my home network using my phone/wifi? I use the \\ip addy method on all my computers, but that didn't work through PIE on the phone.. I also couldn't figure out how to navigate to it using file explorer... Is it possible with the stock software or do I need to upgrade?

Re: accessing network folders?
I'm pretty sure the stock file explorer will map drives, but might not browse as you are trying it. you could try using the UNC path with hostnames of the machines instead of IP address.

1. I wanted to browse, rather than use the "open path" function. 2. I had my wifi connection labeled as connect to internet... for whatever reason, when I switched it to work network, it allowed me to see the folders. However, now I've got a new problem... I can't stream music and video through the network.. I can see the files, but i can't open them... is this normal? |
Re: accessing network folders?
hmm...I would think if you can map a drive you should be able to access the files too- access meaning stream or play. does it give any type of error or just wont play when you try it? and what are you trying to play the files on- what media player on phone...

Re: accessing network folders?
I use TotalCommander and it works great for browsing network drives. I think it's a bit easier to set up/use than the stock file explorer. It also adds the ability to copy a file directly from your phone/storage card to your network folder (given you have the correct permissions set up on your pc). Give it a try.
