VZW Changes plans - Unlimited Web/Email - $29.99 month

Press released today - here.

I called - and the deal is you go through your COMPANYs servers to connect to email, web, etc... and NOT through Verizon's network.....
It applies for businesses that have special bundled pricing directly with Verizon.

"The plan is currently available on the Verizon Wireless SMT5800; the Verizon Wireless XV6800 and the MOTO Q9m"

interesting........

EXCELLENT work matt -- do you work for VZW ?
as to be expected, i'm getting very limited information when i call Verizon to ask about the details..

so is this plan simply a reduced price 'Unlimited Data' plan ? which used to be 44.99 ? they just simply lowered the price ?
can it be that simple ? a gift ???? or is this new access going to be funneled through some VZW proprietary interface, thereby crippling un-restriced internet ?

So this sounds like it is not for the avg joe shmo with data. if thats true, figures from verizon, big talk and then at the last call, oh wait, no, sorry, this is not for you. you still have to pay $45.

what it consist of is that anyone with a pda device who does not have cooperate email setup on device can get unl data for now 29.99....if you have cooperate email coming to device still required to pay 44.99

Looking at the PDF from a couple of posts above, it seems as though you cannot use Exchange with this plan. That sure seems WEIRD to me. PUSH would be out of the question.

more detail here..

reading the T's & C's, it seems very different than the 'Unlimited data' plan that is currently offered for 44.95..

It truely sounds like a bunch of crap to me.
I am not sure the use of it.
If you want to teather then - no
If you want to use PUSH then - no
Looks as though it is for the customer who wants a smartphone, but isn't happy with having to pay for a data plan on top of Voice.

It would save me $10/mo. from the PDA Smartphone plan, but its too restricting.

It will be interesting to hear from someone who has used it and tried to do what they are not supposed to do. Is VZW going to block ports for exchange/push? It just sounds lame to me.

Re: VZW Changes plans - Unlimited Web/Email - $29.99 month

well I made the switch (45 to 30 is $15a month!), but i have no idea how to see if i can do those things you guys are talking about....i dont have cooperate email or use push email to a corporate server...i use aol/yahoo through the outlook and it checks every 30mintues. so i should be ok right? we'll see...

edit: well i held off just b/c after 4 days ive used 40Mb and since ive only had data for a couple weeks i dont know how much i use in a month and the $29.99 plan has a limit of 5gigs

You all should just ditch Verizon, ATT and T-mobile and just go with the Sprint SERO plan.

I am talking about buffet here vs a small burger!
