VX6800 Bluetooth and GPS

Hi everyone. I just got my VX6800 a few weeks ago. I got about 8 days to exchange it and I have been racking my brain on trying to resolve some issues. Here they are:

1. Where are all the different bluetooth profiles? I have tried to tranfser a file to another PDA via bluetooth with no luck. It seems odd to have such an awesome phone but no bluetooth support other than a headset. Does any one know if this can fixed or added. The Samsung has all the profiles included with it why not the 6800.

2. I also read somewhere before I purchased this phone that it had some sort of GPS receiver built into to the phone but Verizon has shut it off. Being new to this I looked around the forums and everything seems to relate to the Sprint version of this phone and unlocking the GPS service. Can anyone help explain or clarify if we are able to active the GPS service on this phone.

Thanks for all your help. I am sure you guys have problly answered some of these questions. I searched for some sort of answer with no luck. Thanks.

Re: VX6800 Bluetooth and GPS

That was just rude zippyts, it would have been better to not post at all.

crazygreek:
1) blutooth profiles are not what I would like them to be, but different roms solve some of that.
2) justpctechs link is perfect.

Re: VX6800 Bluetooth and GPS

I was wondering the same thing on the GPS for Verizon, it's all showing a Sprint rom, I didn't see anything in the orginal post about activating the GPS on a XV6800 from Verizon.....

I could not find anything on here that confirms it will work on Verizon...

I did find this after 2 min in google...
http://www.phonenews.com/how-to-add-...00-titan-2663/

Thinking about moving from a XV6700 to the XV6800....

Re: VX6800 Bluetooth and GPS

David, The first link in this thread is a whole thread about flashing the Sprint released radio and rom (the only way to get GPS support) onto a xv6800 (v\Verizons version of the Mogul). The link you posted is essentially a repost of the same info. I would suggest the first link.

Re: VX6800 Bluetooth and GPS

Thanks for the info guys. Let me ask this question. If I perform this "Sprint" rom update. Will there be any issues with the Verizon service as well as if I take it in for service will I have any problems wih those tech guys who really know nothing about cell phones except how to transfer contacts and clean battery contacts. Sorry, just alittle beaf I have with the local techs around here.

Basically I just want to make sure I don't screw my phone up, also this will wipe all my contacts and other items off of my phone correct?

Lastly "if that's word" this rom update would solve most of the bluetooth problem (different profiles that are available) as well as the GPS problem so programs like Google maps or Mapopolis will locate a current position.

Re: VX6800 Bluetooth and GPS

you will loose all the information on your phone so u have to back it up somehow (i use PIM Backup) or move your pics/music to a card. When you do flash to the new sprint rom (which you need to do to get GPS), after you upgrade the bootloader first, do not let the sprint customizations run. When its done and it gets to the screen, "tap here now to ...blah blah," do not tap, and just run a kitch or a new rom. good luck
