Stream mp3 library from home PC

I have a nice collection of mp3's on my home computer. I cannot fit all of them on a 4GB or 8GB storage card.

I was wondering if there is an application for the Mogul that would allow me to load/view/access all of my mp3's from my home computer and allow me to stream them? This would allow me to avoid buying a huge memory card and having to choose which songs I want to copy over to it.

If I was able to browse my home library or music folder, would I be able to stream the mp3's without them being all choppy? I have RoadRunner at home and RevA Mogul.

Lastly, is there an application I could run on my home computer which would allow me to access my library or music folder from the internet using my Static IP Address? This way I could access my music from any computer or pocketpc with an internet connection.

If anyone else knows of or is doing anything like this please feel free to chime in and share some information.

Thanks,
Bugsy

I've used orb.com before. works good. just have to remember to start it before you leave home if you disable it from running at boot.

it should work as well using a free webserver like networkactiv and tcpmp. jus install the webserver on the pc, start it, start tcpmp on the phone, hit open file and put the http address to the mp3s location in the top. hit ok and the mp3 should play.

Orb works well enough for music, some're still having issues with video.

As for remembering to start it, I've had good success with LogMeIn. Forgot to run Orb? Forgot to start a scan or a backup? Log on from your phone and fire it up. :)

Maybe not the greatest solution as it costs money but there is a service called mp3Tunes (http://mp3tunes.com/) that allows you to upload your mp3s to server that they host and then you can stream them back to yourself using select radio. I used the free trial and it was pretty cool. I havent paid for the service but its a neat idea and your mp3s are backed up remotely. I have 233 Gigs of MP3s though so I have no hope of fitting them all on anything.

I have just around 100GB of music so I don't think I will be uploading it!! LOL

I would like to find a nice application which will allow me to connect to my computers music or video. Thank you for the Orb & TCPMP solution. I have never used TCPMP so I 'll have to check it out.

I'm hoping I can find an application which will allow me to view the entire library, sort by artist/genre/title/album/etc, play, pause, stop, previous, next, and slider to adjust what point in time is playing of the song.

Thank you for the suggestions so far and if anybody else has any other applications that we might be able to check out please feel free to let us know.

Thanks again,
Bugsy

The ORB problems I had with video were solved when I used a 3gp converter.

I can't recommend Orb enough. Works beautifully.

Could you elaborate? Are you pre-converting your video content to 3GP? Using a 3GP trancoder?

I found a few applications so far that do video, picture, and music.

This one only does music but it is freeware so that's kind of nice for now until I find an ultimate program that does it all and doesn't suck down all the resources.
