Slingbox help

After doing some researching about Sprint Tv not working anymore, I read that this "Slingplayer" was a good alternative, however, I can't figure out how to use it. I searched all over google looking for a walkthrough and couldn't find one. I have the program installed on device via cab and I click on "Slingbox directory" and then "Add new Slingbox" then I get lost. What do I need to do to be able to watch a little tv over wifi/data connection? I have the 6800 and unlimited data. Thanks.

Re: Slingbox help

Yeah it's not that simple..You have to urchase a Slingbow and hook it up to you wireless network and you cable box. Basically you sling your cable/sattlelite T.V. etc to your mobile via the wireless web. After you get the slingbox setup then you csn configure the program on your 6800.

Smile Re: Slingbox help

LOL. Couldn't help but add my 2 cents....

Slingbox AV costs only $106.95 on Amazon.com

http://www.slingmedia.com/go/slingbox-av

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...ckpacker4li-20

That is the best priced current model. I am using the old style (nonHD) version and have had it running for about 2 years now with no outages or issues. The instant access to streaming news, movies, music is amazing.

If you want a free alternative, setup a media center PC and run ORB to allow viewing of free streaming video on your phone. With EVDO Rev A it works well, but requires a networked PC to be running at all times.

Re: Slingbox help

yes sir, you do need to buy a slingbox first, and also keep in mind that to fully use the mobile sling player on your mogul, you need to pay $30 for it too. although they will give you 30 days to try it out. but if you do end up buying a slingbox, a sling mobile player is a must.

Re: Slingbox help

Keep in mind that the Slingbox folks do NOT list the Titan as a supported phone. This is because the picture quality is lower (no video drivers).

That said, it does actually work on the Titan. Watching news is ok but watching sports isn't all that great, imo.

Re: Slingbox help

I just got a slingbox and I actually get better smoother picture through orb + tcpmp weird. I do like the ease of use that slingbox provides though, being able to change channels instantly, pausing, fast forwarding, etc.

I was getting really frustrated having to go back to my browser every time I wanted to change a channel on orb, guess I can give up some picture quality for ease of use.

Re: Slingbox help

I recently upgraded to a 6.1 kitchen on my 6800, and while my slingbox will connect, the application will crash after a second or 2.
I do have low program memory available(6mb), and this might be the cause. Anyone else run into this problem?

Just found this post.
"this may sound nutty, but mine did not work with the new rom update until i uninstalled opera 8.65 and lo and behold, it works like a champ! wierdly enough, both opera 8.65 and slingplayer worked well together pre-update."
I don't think I have Opera installed at all.
