SDHC Card Won't Recognize Anymore

I ran into a little problem. I was formatting my new 4gb class 6 card with MemMaid. I figured it was going to take a while so I jumped in the shower. When I came back to chec the status, my phone was asleep as was to be expected. I couldn't wake it up. I tried for about a minute. I figured that ~30 minutes was enough time to format the card. So I ended up soft resetting the phone.

Well now my phone won't recognize my card. I tried seeing it in MemMaid and File Explorer and the 4gb card isn't there. I've tried soft resetting, taking out the battery and no dice.

I inserted my old 512MB card and it sees it fine. However, the brand new 4gb card is playing hard to get.

Oh I'm on v.5055 of no2chems rom.

Any clues as to what to do? Is this card hosed or is there a chance to fix the situation.

Thank you for your time.

try formatting the card to fat 32 with a card reader and your computer. go into start/ computer/ right click on the card and select format. After you format the card insert it into your phone.

Re: SDHC Card Won't Recognize Anymore

it was prolly just time for ya memory card to die... is there any other problems witcha phone?

i had installed an app that somebody gave me, and i think it wrecked my whole phone. my buttons began to not respond, like the function key and some letters.. then, my memory card appeared as though it wasn't even there... i went to a sprint store, and the technician said that sometimes a memory card just dies ealry... its a malfunction wit some of the larger micro sds... my 4 gig was about 2 months old when it happened... and i had to get another one...

This one was right out of the package. Doubt it is bad.

Re: SDHC Card Won't Recognize Anymore

No love!

Quick question... Can most multi-card readers read a SDHC card, or is there a size limit?

I tried:
Disk Management
Dos
Win Explorer
Removeable storage.

Trying to access it freezes the box.

Attempting to format via Dos yields:
Code:
format J:
Insert new disk for drive J:
and press ENTER when ready...
Error in IOCTL call.
Trying to access gives me:
Code:
The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.
So looks like I may be up shat creek.

Next step is to see if I can salvage this in FreeBSD. But I am not very familiar with how flash memory works.

Re: SDHC Card Won't Recognize Anymore

From what I understand, only sdhc readers will read a sdhc card not the the standard card readers.

Re: SDHC Card Won't Recognize Anymore

Struck out in fbsd too.

Ok that would explain why I can mount the 512 in all OS' but the 4GB one is unreadable. it may be bad or it may be the reader.

Ok people... riddle me this. i went on the best buy site and none of their readers claim to support SDHC.

What's a boy to do? I'm itch'n to try out iguidence and I need my hc card to do it.
