Can't stop processes from open @ startup (nothing in \Windows\Startup). Also...

Hey, Everyone,
I know w/ prior ROMs, you could just del HTC_CM_Guardian and sddaemon from the Startup folder, but there're no references to them there this time around (v3.35). Any suggestions? Hmm... Also, 'there a way to keep GPS alive while suspended yet?

::bump::

As far as keeping GPS alive during suspend, I know it didn't work before, but maybe...

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Power\Suspen d\
gpd0: (2)

...will work now since the introduction of the new ROM. Also, using dotFred's TskMgr v.2.9, under "Devices" there's GPS1:. 'Anyone tried it yet (gps1: (2))?

Interestingly there seems to be no reg entries pointing to either HTC_CM_Guardian or SDDaemon.

You can kill the process itself but the HTC_CM_GUARDIAN process will reappear after a polling interval. That makes me think that they are not starting via the standard windows "Startup", rather started (and the process subsequently monitored) by another service that is starting.

The HTC_CM_Guardian executeable also cannot be removed/renamed as it appears to live in ROM.

So, in other words, y'can only remove it by cookin' a ROM w/o it, eh?

That appears to be the case. My guess is Sprint wised up a bit

I kill it and the sddaemon process in a mortscript at soft boot and it doesn't ever re-appear. HTC is launching it from another exe that has to be loaded at startup (that one is launched from the startup reg entry) near as I can tell.

Interesting. I killed both using a task manager and within about 5 minutes HTC_CM_Guardian was restarted. SDDaemon was never restarted.

Well mine's still gone several days later... and after resets, etc... not sure why yours restarts - I did NOT let customizations run, maybe that's it?

Relevant thread from xda:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=377171

Basically just change the attribute on the executable to turn off read only and copy a zero byte file over top. I can confirm it works easily for the HTC_CM_Guardian.exe

It may be due to customizations.

Good find on the XDA Thread!
