WIFI Scanning, Connection issues !

Hi. I've been searching for about 30 minutes here, and didn't find a solution for my issue. I was in costco yesterday, checking for the wifi networks there. I figured out there might be some opened WIFI in there, needed to send a email, and i don't sub to Telus's data plans.

So i went and used AiroMap 1.6. There was about 10 wireless networks detected, some weps some wpas, and 3 wide open ones.

For some reason, the wireless AP's were showing in AiroMap, but if i went into Settings, Connections, Wi-Fi, they didn't show in there.

Is there an alternative way of connecting to the wireless ap's detected ? Why aren't they showing in the Wi-Fi settings page ? I don't see any 'refresh' button on that page, they should show up automatically ?

If there's any 3rd party app that manages connections to the AP's i'd like to try it, but i haven't found much on that.

I'm running DCD 2.3.1 with radio 3.27 if it changes anything, P4000 on Telus. Thanks for any ideas ! cheebster.

Re: WIFI Scanning, Connection issues !

You might have been able to type them in manually.
In costco though they use wifi for their internal systems, I doubt the open ones had a connection to the internet. It's also possible those open ones were ad-hoc setup on laptops, and under wifi setting it doesn't look for ad-hoc. Just a guess as I haven't tried.
