Re: Official Titan built-in GPS Thread

it's a great place...that's why we've been going down every 6 months for the past few years

and you're right, getting the GPS to work wasn't exactly a high priority

I'm wondering if they beam a waas signal to help guide planes for landing?

Re: Official Titan built-in GPS Thread

Possibly you picked up a cruise ship that offered "onboard" cell service. If you had something set for automatic data (like using exchange push or activesync email updates) it might have made a data connection. Watch out for a BIG charge from a cruise service for data access. Not sure why the other Sprint servers would not have supplied the same info but it might be a difference in what the mini-cell was offering (on the tower side).

Not usually, because one of the biggest inaccuracies with GPS is elevation. When they do use it, they have a fixed ground station near the runway to help adjust for the elevation accuracy.

Re: Official Titan built-in GPS Thread

My ppc6800 is programmed to a local Alaskan provider called ACS with ROM version: 2.17.557.0 and Radio version 1.64.00. I'm afraid the updates for Sprint, Telus, etc. won't be compatible with my network, and my provider will undoubtedly never offer an update. Verizon phones roam on my network here, and we're licensed to roam with Sprint down in the states, any idea if any of their ROM versions will work for me up here?

Some swear it's ok, but my personal experience differs. You can always flash back if you don't let customizations run but I think I will stick with my carrier's radio for now. Search around though and I think there might be a way to update the radio through the SD card without a ROM flash like that.

Re: Official Titan built-in GPS Thread

Ok, I am new and need a little help. I have a Garmin GPS 10 (bluethooth reciever). It recently broke. I have the software and maps loaded onto my 6800. Am i able to use the GPS in the 6800 with my Garmin maps? Does anyone know how to set this up, if it is possible?
Thanks!

You need to post this in the upgrades forum.

Re: Official Titan built-in GPS Thread

Ok this thread needs a bit of updating. There is a cab file floating around that unlocks GPS for the latest Alltel ROM.
