Cant flame ya for digging into the unit (female connector) and trying to BEND the hardware to force a better connection...

i had the same thing happen to mine. when you look inside the phone side usb, there is a little black tab that goes inside the charger/usd end. that tab gets loose and you are screwed. mine still would charge (after a wiggle or two), but it wouldn't sync. i use the insurance, although i should just have told them i lost the phone- i would have gotten to keep the battery, now i have to send it back with the phone

Quick question. What would happen if I was running a custom ROM and this malfunction occured? I know you should always switch back to a stock rom and relock your phone before servicing, but if you're no longer are able to connect via USB....what then?

This hasn't happened to me, but it would be good to know what the options are if it did.

Maybe a good idea to have a spare battery on hand and the backup rom on a disk so you can slip the card in and go from there.

Mine is doing that at the present time, can charge by bending the usb plug but I cannot get activesync to see the device. Want to go back to stock rom so I can exchange this one....... Not going to be a fun day.....
