On Demand Problem?

Is the On Demand app that comes with the phone suppose to be only a trial version? I remember before i hard-reset my phone it would say my trial was over, but the message disappeared after a day..

some channels that are associated with "on demand" need subscripitions but overall it is a free service ...ie ; Weather,Sports, are FREE. but Maps,TV Guide are not.
