HTC PPC-6800 Vista driver and/or WMDC install problem
If this is a repost my apology's I just have not come across it on here yet.
I just plugged my phone into my windows Vista Home Basic box. Windows Vista pops up the installing new device hardware box as usual. Windows then tells me it was unable to install the device driver's. Then a box pops up that shows you that it tried to locate a driver and was unsuccessful. In the box it shows the icon and the name WMDC. I can only click OK. So I searched on MWU center and found the WMDC download page where I downloaded drvupdate-x86 and proceed to run file. Installer comes up with the following message. Windows Mobile Device Center Driver Update The update could not be installed because at least one Windows component requires by Windows Mobile Device Center is missing. OK So my question is how do I get WMDC so I can active sync my PPC-6800 to my vista :violent2:? |
Did I miss something? Do you have activesync installed? I may be wrong, but I thout WMDC was something like an activesync plugin.

Are you downloading this off of Microsoft.com? Try uninstalling and installing again.
|
active sync is not available for vista it uses WMDC now

Thats weird. Go to Microsoft.com In the search box, type in WMDC. It should lead you to a list of links. Click on the first one. That should lead you to a page to install the latest version of WMDC with instructions on how to install and connect. Try the 32 bit if the 64 bit dose not work.

Wow! Seems like your SOL unless you give Sprint a call. They are really a pain to deal with but sometimes the technical support aren't so bad, it's the customer service that will kill you. Good luck man, update this thread when you find a way. I downloaded mines off of Microsofts website with no problems. I have Vista Home Premium.

Ok well I solved it sort of. After dicking with it I relied I just do not have the time nor patience to screw around with piddly stuff and Microsoft these days. Sucks to not be 16 any more ;-) so I just grab some new parts from my room and built a new computer and installed Windows Vista Home Premium on this one.
Everything worked great this time! I hooked the device up Windows installed drivers right away then I rebooted and installed the drvupdate-x86.exe from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en And that out the new graphical WMDC and synced up again. Device works perfect. IMPO it was a F'ed install of Vista. |
