shell problems?

just when i was saying i had no major problems with my device:

i had the lock that either happens due to an issue with s2u2 or the roaming thing (i haven't had time to fully test which one it is)

i soft reset, and when it came back up, my programs were returned to their defaults:
s2u2 - most settings were back to default
today was the same color but with no pic
owner information was gone
backlight setting went back to default
total commander options were set to default.

then some message popped up saying "An unhandled error has occured in the shell. Attempting to restart the shell", so i pressed ok and it did.

now it's running sluggish, and i went to task manager and see ms_sipbutton in the process list running at over 1m of memory.

anyone else have something similar happen to them?

edit: google has been pointing to x button 1.5.1, but not only am i using version 2.0.309xx, but i've never had an issue before. i will see if uninstalling it helps though.

x button is evil I tell you

sounds like your registry got nuked - that would be bad.

Use InClose instead. I found a link to the CAB posted over at xda in this thread

Works great for me, no errors, no wild memory use, no problems. Just works.

I had the exact same issue. Some programs and settings were gone, some were still intact. Same sluggishness, same error message. The problem cleared up after a few resets. I reloaded everything that was gone. Weird. Never really found (or looked for) an explanation.

I'm also running the same version of Task Manager (aka X Button). Seems to be working fine for most people though. I'm not totally convinced it is the issue. Also running S2U2 (not sure what version at the time of the error).

Thanks. I'll look into it.
