Cheap 2400 mah battery on eBay

Ran across an extended battery for the Mogul on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/2400mah-Extended...QQcmdZViewItem

No one is bidding on it, in spite of the low starting price of $9.99. Is there something I should be worried about with this battery?

Thanks.

What kind of extended battery life could one get with a battery like that? Would it be worth it, or is it just like an extra hour?

The phone ships with a 1500 mah, so this is more than a 50% increase. Note that Seidio claims a 15% increase when using their 1650 battery:

I don't know if i would want to even think about bidding on this item, especially with all the cases of exploding batteries.

eBay batteries are often after-market or basically cheaply made batteries. It is usually cheaper because they do not deal with any quality checking or long-term use. They may also not have any form of protection, so some may actually "explode". Also, even though it states 2400 mah, it may not actually hold a full charge, or hold it for long (long being after several recharge cycles). Basically, you get what you pay for.

The only recognized third-party brand battery I've often see people talk about are Seidio, but they are much more expensive than $10. I plan on purchasing an extended OEM battery from them eventually.

Some eBay batteries have been reported to work great for a while and then start losing their charge several months later. As Keyone stated, you generally get what you pay for when it comes to ebay batteries.

As stated, You are taking a bit of a chance, but I've bought cheap "Ebay" batteries over the years for many devices and have never had a problem. As a matter of fact, the $7 battery I bought for my canon digicam lasts ~30% longer than the $30 OEM. The battery cover for the cheap extended battery I bought for my Axim fit better than the OEM too.
