Text messages, replace softkey DELETE with NEW

Is there a way to make this left softkey say NEW again?

Re: Text messages, replace softkey DELETE with NEW

OK, did anyone find a registry change for this yet?

Or what is the command line to map the Today screen left softkey to "New Text Message." Right now I have the Today screen left softkey mapped to open Text Messaging.... but I still have to do two more steps to write a new text message... 1) Right softkey... then 2) New. Call me lazy but I text message a lot and it's kind of annoying.

I hate that left softkey "Delete" when text messaging is running. I never use it and I never delete text messages.

Re: Text messages, replace softkey DELETE with NEW

Here you go, although this is for the Today screen left softkey. Save the ZIP to your PC or Phone, extract the CAB from it, and install the CAB. (Requires a Soft Reset after install.)

For the record, this CAB creates a shortcut in \Windows\AppButtons. The shortcut triggers the following command:
"tmail.exe" -service "SMS" -to ""

After it creates the shortcut, it sets the following registry key and value:
<characteristic type="HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Today\Keys\112">
<parm name="" value="New SMS" datatype="string" />
<parm name="Open" value="\Windows\AppButtons\NewSMS.lnk" datatype="string" />

As long as you are using a stock ROM, it will work fine. If not, you may have to fix your shortcut to launch the correct service... ie. "MMS" or whatever. If you want it to launch a new Hotmail, for example, change the service to "Hotmail". If you need to identify the service name, browse to HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\SVC, and then just fix the shortcut in AppButtons.

I installed it, but it does not work. It opens Messaging, which either goes to my Text Message or Email inbox, depending upon where I left messaging. I want the left softkey to not only open up text messaging, but also open up a new text message, and leave the cursor on the "To" field, where I type the recipient(s) name(s).

Is that possible?
