Camera picture quality ("grainy" and "gold'ish" color)

My wife an I both have the Alltel HTC-6800. The camera picture quality is worse than any I have ever seen. My daughter’s $29 pink LG phone has a better camera. Both of the 6800’s we have take real “grainy” pictures that look over exposed and always have a yellow/ gold tint to the color. Is there any fix for this? It sure does not look close to 2MB. Here is a link to a few pics I have taken with it recently.

Try this registry change, I found it here this morning while searching for reg hacks to include in my ROM. I noted the same grainy gold picture quality on my XV6800 before applying this and it made quite a difference.

HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\P2\MainCamSupportCaptSize
Default value is 10 decimal (0xA hex). Change value to 58 decimal (0x3A hex).

That seemed to have a positive impact. I will take some more and see. Thanks!

I would think so yes.

I say this because the key being modified is in the HTC section of the registry which leads me to believe that it will work for all HTC 6800 hardware regardless of branding. IMHO.

Please post the 'after' pictures too. My 6800 pictures are also bad.

I've found that you need to set the exposure control (2nd icon from the right across bottom) to the proper lighting and that solved a lot of my problems ... the dang shutter delay is the worst thing though ......

my shutter delay is actually not even close to as bad as it was with the 6700, not that was bad!

This worked great for me... took the "orangeish" hue out of my pics. Thanks.
