Help determining issue with my Mogul

Hey all,

I thought it was awesome when I received a fairly new Mogul for free from a friend who couldn't handle not being able to easily dial while driving. Problem is that the Mogul locks up for no reason whatsoever. It will DSOD, it will lock when I access the start menu, it will lock when I open the keyboard. It will lock just sitting on the charger!!! There's no storage card, and no installed programs outside of what comes in the various ROMs I've tried. Also, I can't seem to find a common variable that would be a cause to my problem since the lockups, while frequent, are very random.

Here are the steps i've taken and maybe there's something I'm missing. I've looked through the forums and haven't really found anything that describes the issue i'm having:
- When I received phone, was on 2.09 firmware. Updated to latest 2.17 rom from USA HTC website... same problems
- Installed 3 different custom ROMs from here at PPCGeeks and XDA: Colonel's; ImCokeMan Alltel; and one from XDA (can't remember name)... Same problems on each ROM...
- Downgraded radio from 1.47 to 1.40 due to threads here I saw that say phone locked up when switching from Roaming... Same problems
- Reflashed back to Stock 2.17 with 1.47 radio and reverted to original bootloader (in prep to take to Sprint)... Same problems

With each step I took, there were multiple Hard Resets. Also, throughout the entire time i've had the phone on each ROM I've tried, it won't always boot and will sometimes lock up on one of the three splash screens: the HTC, the Sprint Speed, and the Windows Mobile.

I'm guessing my next step is dropping it off at the repair store but any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

TIA!

Exchange

Well.. sounds like you have done everything reasonable such as the ROM update.. and testing out the phone without any mods/additions.

I would think that if you are locking up while your ROM is being loaded from a reset (Sprint speed, HTC, WM6 screens) that there is something F'ed up with a piece of hardware. I recommend an Exchange...

Yeah, that's what I figured. I was hoping it wouldn't come to that... Thanks!
