Mogul acting strange.

I got a spare battery for my mogul the other day and plugged it up to charge it. When I unplugged the phone it just kept restarting itself on its own. So I took the battery out and put my original battery back in the phone Hard Reset itself! I was not holding any buttons when I started the phone so I have no idea how a Hard Reset was started. The weird part was after all the start-up stuff went through I soft reset to stop the sprint customizations. Whenthe phone came back on all settings were back to factory, my weatherpanel was gone, HTC plug in gone. Hard reset right? Why were all my contacts still in the phone book though? When I went to programs some of the programs were listed they just would not do anything. I hade to remove the program then reinstall from my SD card. Any Ideas this is my third Mogul due to various problems I'm not sure if the store is going to swap me out again.

I have had two moguls do that same hard reset on me without holding any buttons. Lost everything the first time as I did not have an sd card. Not sure how common this issue is but it is very annoying.
