How to unlock Extended_ROM?

I am sucessful to display the extended_ROM through modifying the reg., but it is read only. Who can tell me how to unlock it? Or Which tools can build the extendedrom.nb?

Display the Extended_ROM via reg.:

If you do a thorough search you will find that many have come to the conclusion, for whatever reason the EXT ROM is not editable on the 6800.

It appears to have something to do with different partition formats and overall ROM design.

instead of getting the extrom editable, can we unpack the 0#_ExtROM.nb file when making custom roms and than repackage and flash to the device.

the reason i ask is because how many times do you edit the extrom files? for me its just to do some extra customizing like adding a nice background to the initial setup, or remove stupid things like the addition of contacts on alltels roms
