What is the Radio software?

I just installed dcd'd clean rom. It mentions that the radio software in not included and I am not sure I know what this mean. My phone seems to work fine. I can call and the internet is working, but I am on the my local Sprint network. Do I still need this? What does it do? Chad

It means it won't upgrade your radio firmware. If you had 1.40 before then you'll still be at 1.40.

Thanks! Any advice on how to check what version I am running? And what benefits do you get from upgrading it? Chad

Go to Start->Settings->System->Device Information for the radio version you have.

Some people have said they gained better coverage with the radio in the latest stock ROM but I'm sticking with 1.40 as many others have.

Cool I found it. Looks like I have 1.32 installed on mine. I have installed colonels rom and dcd's rom, but I guess that is what I had originally had install on my phone. Not sure if I should upgrade it or not, seems to work so far, but the phone is still new) Chad

The "Radio" is what communicates with the cell tower so you can place a call. It's not like an FM Radio.
