Best custom ROM out there now?

What do you think the best custom ROM out there is right now for the PPC-6800?

I am looking to upgrade to a new ROM, since I'm on the horrible 2.16 version and rebooting several times a day.

If you want a clean ROM, I recommend DCD's ROMs over at XDA or no2chem's ROM. I am using no2chem latest 3704.

If you want a loaded ROM, try JKDillards ROM or build one of your own using Dogguy's kitchen.

Otherwise, using Sprint's stock 2.17 ROM is not a bad idea either. It's pretty much a stable ROM for everyday use.

Hope that helps.

I would like to try out a loaded ROM with all sorts of features. Where can I find JKDillards ROM? I googled but can't find it.

Also, how would you recommend I backup my text messages?

Here is the thread for JakDillard's loaded ROM.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=13981

You can backup and restore your text and other stuff such as contacts, calender, etc. with PIM Backup. The link to that thread is below...its located over at XDA Dev.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299705

If this is your first time with this stuff, I recommend reading at least the first post of both threads. With PIM Backup, you should back it up to a Storage Card because once you flash, it'll erase everything on the device.

Good luck! Let me know how everything goes.

Also you may want to try Colonel's Roms.
At the top of the page click Qlinks then OPen FTP then TItan then users than Colonel than roms and select the latest date. I would definitely use either Sprite Backup or another backup for all of your messages and contacts. I use Sprite backup once a week and PIM back up daily.

Wow, thanks so much for the help guys. I am up and running on JD's Custom 2.17 ROM

This is the best thing I have ever done to my phone. Youtube now works flawlessly.

It's like I did everything I could ever want to do to my phone without doing any of the work...

the best ROM I've run thus far is a toss up between DogGuy's 2.17 and the Sprint 2.17. both are very stable and reliable.
