Text received length question

Ive been searching for a while now about changing the length of texts received. Is there any way to do this? 160 characters quite often isnt enough.

All I can find is stuff for changing the length for sending texts. I installed that on my phone but what i need is receiving length.

I was given to understand that the 160-character limit is a fundamental limitation of the text messaging protocol - after all, SMS stands for Short Messaging Service. Regardless of what you do on your phone, your network's servers will chop up longer SMS messages into 160-character packets, and that's how they will be delivered to you. Workarounds include MMS (virtually unlimited text length) and (for some) extended text messaging, which some networks and phones support.

just keep typing past 160 char. It will send it in two messages. I dont see what the big deal is?
