Unable to sync with pc after hard reset

Mogul was working fine with new rom 2.17 but found I had lost my text message ability (it did not show up under messaging) - I did a hard reset and all is well with that except I cannot sync with pc. It tries to connect but fails to do so (I am also no longer getting the popup window on the mogul about connecting to usb host like i had before). Any thoughts?
