Brand new wm user

Hey guys
I just ordered my mogul, it should be here in 2-3 days. I'm coming from a blade, so I'm pretty excited.
I started searching around already, and this stuff is a lot to take in getting in the game now.
First question, the manual tells me its not activesync I will have, but included vista software. Should I use/download activesync anyway?
When downloading software, should I download an executable or a cab file? I've read that copying the cab over and running it on the phone yields the most success.
Sorry if the answers are all out there, and I'm sure a bunch of stuff will make a lot more sense when I have the phone in my hand, but I know these are simple questions for you guys
