#777 The Devil's New Numbers!!!
Yes… I stood in line for eight months anxiously awaiting the Verizon release of the 6800, and now that I have had it for a few days, I like it! Because I am a freak (as are most of you reading this) I have already apped it, zapped it, rommed it and strommed it, testing the abilities not only of the phone but of my imagination to the extent that only a true PPCGeek could understand (cheers in the background).
Through all of this, I ran into a question, that I cannot figure out and so I am soliciting all of you (my brothers and sisters in Cell’dom) for assistance. While configuring everything (and because this and my previous 6700 had WIFI) I always delete the Data Network Entry #777 under my Connections Tab in Setup, so that I do not have the annoying pop up every time I view the weather or want to surf the internet. HOWEVER… When I soft boot reset (or power down) my shiny blue XV6800… #777 returns to my Connections Tab in Setup. This blew me away the first few times and I thought it was because I was Hard Booting the device (as I have done numerous times in the last 123 hours), but I began to see a pattern when testing and noticed that it even does this when soft booting or just resetting the device. HOW DO I GET RID OF (permanently) THE DEVILS CONNETION #777. |
If its the pop up screen that says "Dialing #777 " on the today screen you can diable that pop.up from your Settings , Sounds & Notifications , Notifications , Under Event; Scroll down to connection established and unclick the Box thats check ( Display Message on Screen... and that should take car of ure problem - if you want to remove that annoying pop.up -
as far as if your looking for totally removing the Physical connection (#777) and replacing it with WiFi.... I have no idea ,try looking arounding -Someone should have an idea.. Hopes this hlps . . |
Open file explorer, and browse to the Windows/Start Up folder and delete the file named CM_Guardian. Soft reset your device, and then any changes you make should stick.

I love my PPC Brothers and Sistas... IT WORKED!!!
Well, I didn’t actually delete it (I think deleting anything in a live environment is a dangerous practice)... But I moved it to a non-executable folder and vwala! After "deleting the #777 connection and resetting... It was still gone!!! YAY!!! Thanks Pops you are a hero and a true PPC Geek!!! I love you MAN!!! :headbang: |
Don't thank me, thank the community. :)
I mean after all, where you think I learned it from? :D ;) By the Way, you really don't need to worry about that file. It is safe to delete. All it does is protect Sprint's default Connection Manager settings so curious users don't accidentally wipe them out and waste their time with a support call. |
I disabled the Connecting to #777 notification in the registry.
Start, then Settings, and Sounds & Notifications. In the Notifications tab, the event is called "Connection established" -- simply uncheck the "Display message on screen" box and you will no longer get the popup window! |
If you remove the #777 doesnt that disable the internet over PCS connectivity?

This is actually very simple. Go to Start, then Settings, and Sounds & Notifications. In the Notifications tab, the event is called "Connection established" -- simply uncheck the "Display message on screen" box and you will no longer get the popup window!
