Random Active Sync Disconnects after 2.17?

Since I've installed 2.17, i've noticed some strange things with active sync. I am still very new to the mogul, only had it one month and this is my first PDA.

I've read that some of you guys do a hard reset after a rom upgrade. I was wondering could my issue be a symptom of me not doing a hard reset?

thanks in advance!

Start > Settings > Connections > USB > Disable (Uncheck) Advanced Networking.

Also, while you're in Connections, go to Beam and turn them off unless you use them... huge battery drain.

I get quite a few random disconnects for activesync as well. not sure why. sometimes it will reconnect on its own. Other times i have to unplug and then reinsert the plug. seems to happen more on 2.17 now. happened some on 2.16 and never happened on 2.09. <shrug>

yeah, I was coming from 2.09. It was stable. Also, thanks Goodthings2Life I will try your suggestion to see if it worked.

well, it would appear that trick worked. AS is stable now. Now for these two questions. 1. Why does it constantly try to sync my favorites when they dont change? 2. Why does disabling the advanced networking features help my issue?

1. ActiveSync often reports that it's processing files/bookmarks/etc. even if there are no changes. Generally it's not actually making changes, it's just a scan to check for changes.

2. The advanced networking functionality is more or less to be used for Internet Sharing, such as if you want to use your phone as a Sprint broadband card. I reason it breaks, from my own forum searching, is usually because of firewall issues since, in advanced network mode, the phone acts as a network adapter instead of a USB device. If you wanted to configure your firewall to allow all the ActiveSync ports/programs, it would probably work fine too.
