Noobish 6800 ?s

Hello All,

I just bought an Alltel HTC 6800 and I have been reading about the hacks and custom roms here on this forum and I'm sure by now any activity for this phone is pretty much dead, but I was wondering if the most current roms were located at these following posts:

Also how useable is Windows Mobile 6.5 on the 6800? I am just looking to see if there is a version of 6.5 that has most of the features that rums smoothly on the 6800. Or am I better off just staying at 6.1 if I'm looking for the best performance?

You could try the Titan thread over at xda-developers
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=382

i think Alee's 6.5.x is the most up to date for 6.5
you would have to run the generic rom and then use dcd carrier cabs for your carrier.

Before you run the generic rom though you have to unlock your 6800 first

When I had the sprint mogul I used both 6.1 and 6.5, they seemed to run the same for me, but i preferred 6.1 over 6.5 more. I also used spb mobile and it still ran nice and smoothly for me.

If you don't like those roms you could always build your own. the easiest one I use is BuildOS, which is at ppckitchen.org

Also the 6800 has a dedicated GPS correct? If so are there any GPS programs that DO NOT access data and just uses the GPS?

flash one of Ryan Moguls ROMS, I prefer his over all the others, just select your carrier...in this case Alltel.... heres a link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=492214

Not sure but i think all GPS programs acess data, you be better off with an unlimited data plan.

since the 6800 is light on ram, if you want performance I'd stick with 6.1. I'm actually running wm5 on mine. ;)

the only gps map apps that don't need data are the one where you purchase the map and typically they are in the 1gb range. (tomtom, garmin, ect..)
