newbie question about disabling the Sprint Add-Ons

I've seen a few messages about disabling the add-ons after a hard reset by doing a soft-reset when the install screen comes up...

-what's the advantage of doing this?

-what's the downside?

PROS: Remove your carriers bloatware, free up memory, reduce conflict.

Cons : serviceability at dealer, Some lost functions (if you cant find 3rd party cabs)

I stopped the customizations and the only function that doesn't work on mine is no voicemail speed dial.

Is there a way to do this more easilly? I noticed that at first boot, there was a number of things loaded. But now, I am sure that the 24+ mb that is running is junk.

I just had to hard reset my titan, I didn't let the sprint crap install, I have 24 mb of free ram, and after reinstalling all my cab files (flashlight, htc home, etc) I have 144,xxx memory.

I didn't allow the bloatware to install on my phone, and I couldn't be happier. I never used any of the "Extra's" that sprint loads up.. seriously.. who wants Sprint Music Store... and what's up with that Yellow Background! No thanks sprint.

Later,
phaZed

I'm in the same boat, OP. Do you guys mean that not loading the Sprint stuff saves storage memory or program memory (i.e., RAM)?

none of the sprint crap is running in the ram all the time....use this task manager to check all the running processes. if u dont install the crap it does save a little storage memory.

I run without them and haven't noticed any negative effects. I never use voice dial, and none of their other junk interests me, so I'm good.

Is there a way to do email settings backup, hard reset, and stop the load and then resetup the emails more easily? I have five accounts that I setup, would like to preserve them.
