US Cellular PPC 6800

hi all:

my first post here but i have been reading but i am more confused then if i never would have started reading i think.

i just bought 2 (uncloced) US Cellular PPC 6800`s off ebay.

they appear to be working great...did a hard reset on both and adjusted the screen and connected both to my wireless wrt54gl v1.1 linksys router running dd-wrt.

I do not have any wireless cell phone company.

basically i bought both phones to use on my wifi and was watning to know how to update the phones so they are current

both phones have this on them
Rom Version 2.17.557.0
Rom Date 11/20/07
Radio Version 1.64.00

so im not sure if i need to do the verizon or sprint update.

i think this is a cdma phone as it dont have a sim card i dont think (just like verizon phones arent they)?
i thought sprint phones were GSM and required the SIM chips.

anyhow i dont want to make a mistake so i come here for your advice.

There is no reason to update the phone if you dont use it as a phone or only in your house. Wifi doesn't change with a rom update. Sprint and Verizon are cdma without sim cards.

i would still like to know the correct update to do.

sometime i am sure i will use the cell phone service.

and i am a little OCD on keeping my equipment upto date.

so if you or someone would tell me how to get the phone updated over wifi or over the usb cable i would appreciate it.

US Cellualr never released a newer stock rom. Your only choice is to go to a custom rom.
