Sprint 6800 and Bluetooth with Pioneer Avic-D3
I have a 6800. I just bought a Pioneer Avic-d3 head unit for my truck along with their Bluetooth adapter. After trying to get it to work, the head unit says that my phone is an invalid device. This doesn't make sense because it sees my phone under the 'Bluetooth Audio' source, and plays the audio from my phone. The head unit doesn't see my phone, but my phone can see the head unit. Does anyone know how to fix this? I don't want to have to come to the realization that I just wasted money on their Bluetooth adapter. I read that the problem may be that the 6800 shows itself as a PDA and not a phone or smartphone, and this is what the Pioneer head unit is looking for. I am willing to take a venture into starting to mod my registry and make it a 'smartphone', but it's something I haven't done before and would like some help doing.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance. |

Download the latest version of that software and your avic-d3 and mogul will play nice... it's what worked for me. (note I had trouble syncing contacts using jetware, i ended up installing pocket informant and using PI ability to select all contacts to send over bluetooth... you can even download the trial version of the program if you want) Hope this helps. I've been having problems with my 6800 playing nice with my Pioneer DEH-9800BT stereo since the beginning. It pairs fine but it hardly ever auto-connects.
I'll make a big (and probably wrong) assumption that the bluetooth guts inside the AVIC-D3 are the same as in my head unit. Jetware has never helped, nor has the smartphone ID reg edit. I'm hoping one of the ROMs with the Touch BT stack helps. |

I have the AVIC-Z1 and the Treo 700wx was BAD. I chabged to the Mogul and it is a lot better. I used the Jetware to sync all teh contacts to it, worked great.

Ok, thanks. I'll download JetWare and give it a shot.
The bluetooth might be the same as your unit. It's the cd-btb200. It's a unit in addition to the D3. |
I downloaded Jetware and it still says it's an invalid device. Is there something special I need to do?

Ok, I got it to work with JetWare. The problem now is that when I try to transfer my contacts it disconnects the phone from the head unit. I'll give Pocket Informant a try and let you know if it doesn't work.

I was able to pair up my Mogul with my Pioneer AVIC Z1. Took a couple times to pair up, but it finally did and it works great using the JetWare. Have to transfer contacts one by one, but I'm just glad that it works.

I tried using Pocket Informant to transfer the contacts over, but I can't find anything in any of the menus that would allow me to send the contacts. Also, when I install PI it causes problems and the D3 starts having trouble finding the phone. Everything works after installing JetWare, with the exception of transferring my contacts.

-Insure Avic and phone both have bluetooth active.
1. Open up pocket informant contacts 2. On the avic-d3 go to transfer contacts 3. Select all or a specific group you want to transfer 4. With the stylus click and hold so you bring up your menu 5. Select beam 6. Beam will bring up a menu (give it a second and the Pioneer head unit will display)- select pioneer Just a side note from my experience... I had issues with transferring all contacts at once (others have reported no issues) so I would transfer contacts in groups. Anyways I hope this helps. Q |
