Adding an alert sound to a Dash 3g

Hi all, I have a TMobile Dash 3G which I am trying to add an alert sound to. I have a short MP3 clip that I placed in the "My Ringtones" folder in main memory. I see that it shows up in the list of available ringtones but not in the list of available alert sounds. Where are the alert sounds stored, in what format and how can I add one of my own to the phone.
thank you very much
Frank

Anyone figure out why we can not assign our wma files as alerts/alarms yet? HELP

Re: Adding an alert sound to a Dash 3g

you can assign your own alerts sounds by putting them into the Application Data/Sounds folder and then your custom alerts will appear in Settings>Sounds.. this works on a Sprint Snap

Re: Adding an alert sound to a Dash 3g

mp3 usually works, or wav, try mp3 first. Take up less space vs sound quality then wav will. I don't use any normal stock sounds on my phones (any of them) only my own custom sounds, all in mp3, all in application data\sounds.
