Ok Mali, I see your pride in Sprint and that is a natural feeling when your on a boat that is sinking. You gotta have hope right? The reason AT&T does not offer insurance on their PDA/PPC Phones is because of the SIM cards. You can pretty much switch out the SIM card on any AT&T device and use it with little or no hassle. AT&T plans on offering insurance in the future for these devices, and I am assuming that they will be able to offer some type of security to ensure that you cant just swap SIM cards.
On the other topic of coverage. I have traveled all over the country with Sprint and recently with my 1 month old AT&T Tilt and the AT&T coverage is 10 times better. As a matter of fact I just drove to Texas from New Jersey and never once dropped calls or lost any type of coverage. Even running around here in Texas I have not lost any service like I did before with Sprint. I too used to feel a pride in my carrier (Sprint) so I know how you feel.

no it will not be for iphone, that would be through apple, also if you had purchased a pda/smartphone after may 5th or around there, u can add the insurance when it out on june 2nd, there will be two tiers upto 125.00 deductible for more expensive phones, insurance will still be 4.99 unline sprint is 7.99 i believe.

Sprint's total equipment protection is $7 a month, not $8. if i were paying $8 a month for insurance, i'd jump ship and go right to AT&T for everything.

now i have at&t and have been an avid user for the past 5years with no hic-cups! in fact i have the family plan with 5 users and unlimted txt and data on 2 devices for less than $250. can Sprint beat that? forget the insurace.. ill take the service, and prices over insurance any day!
This is speaking totally from the perspective of someone who has no discount perks. The only reason I did not go with AT&T so I could get the kaiser I wanted so badly was because of their insane prices. Unlimited Data was like 30-40 bucks compared to sprints $15? And the 40 dollar AT&T plan gave less minutes when compared to sprints 40 dollar plan. And face it...if my business ever picks up, I know I will use a lot more minutes then what 40 bucks can buy me at AT&T (Or sprint for that matter, but that is besides the point).

Sprint, I know nothing about their coverage in general because I get a flawless signal in my area, though I am sure it doesn't work great everywhere.

AT&T is a great service, when I start traveling I will have no choice but to switch. But at the moment they are just way too expensive, by a long shot.

i look at it like this .. u get what u pay for
yea its pricey.. but i can honestly say ive travelled from state to state and overseas and have not had a problem. I believe the only time i ran into a problem is when i was in Puerto Rico at the El Yunque National Forest ( the only rain forest in the U.S fyi ) , but other than that its been great!

when the time comes, you will be satisfied.
