No Live email alert

I have had my Imagio less than a week and am trying to get the email setup first. I have windows live mail. I can not get an audible notification when new email comes into the inbox. I get the green blinking light and the visual number bubble but no sound. I set up a test gmail account and it works fine with the proper alert ring, so I know I have the setting on. I called HTC but they couldn't help me. I have not done any syncing with my computer or any downloads. Even tried a hard reset. I really want this phone to work for me but if I can't get this to work I'm going to have to trade it in.

In the Settings tab, All Settings, Sounds and Notifications, Notifications Tab you have the box for Event (Messaging: New Email Message) set to play sound and a tone indicated?

Re: No Live email alert

Yes, it is checked.

I set up a gmail account and when I get new mail in there I get the alert ring. When I get new mail in the live.com account I get the blinking light but NO ring.

Mine works fine with a Hotmail account. Out of curiosity, what is the "Event Sounds" On/Off slider? Is that Touch Flo turning on/off any advanced sound setting I have for alerts?

Unless you are using other MSN live services try setting up Hotmail directly through these pop3 settings. Works great for me.

My event sounds slider is ON
I don't know enough about Touch Flo to answer those questions? Maybe someone else can explain what effect it has.

I don't use the other services. I do have to email accounts though.
Where do you put these settings in? When I tried adding my other hotmail account right after entering the email account it takes me to the home.mobile.live.com web site.

Re: No Live email alert

Try adding your account like this...

The first thing asked for when setting up a new email is the address, at this initial point you have to lie. I use xxxx@liveFAKE.com

After that, all info entered can be correct, so it goes like this:

Options > New Acct:

Email Address: xxx@liveFAKE.com
Password (use correct password)
> Next

Your Name: what you want receiver of email to see and can be anything
Acct Display Name: displayed on your device icon, can be whatever you want
> Next

Mail Server: POP3.live.com
User Name: USE CORRECT EMAIL ADDRESS
Password: Use correct password
> Next

Outgoing server: SMTP.live.com
check outgoing server requires authentication
> Next

send/receive schedule
> Done

Good Luck. If it works, hit the thanks. If not...

I was able to get hotmail to set up this way. I am still having trouble with it though. I got the ring alert a few times. While I have been testing it out it has hung up several times. I had to do the soft reset about 3 times in the last few hours. The sync with email has been sporatic. I may just give up and return this for a Blackberry Storm like my husband has.

Re: No Live email alert

Sorry I can't be of more help. If you don't have too much set up on the phone yet, the best advice I can offer is to hard reset and try setting things up the way you want them again.
