Travel Alarm

It occurs to me that given the kick-stand, our little device would make a great travel alarm. Ideally, this would be a program that would continuously display the time in landscape using a dimly lit background that wouldn't caste too much light. I'm assuming the phone would be plugged into the charger so the battery doesn't drain. You could set the alarm using the built-in alarm clock software. The volume rocker on the side (which is facing up when the phone is resting on its kick-stand) could be used as a snooze button. I'm not sure if there is already a program available that could do this, and if not if there is someone who has the capability of writing such a program (I don't).

Re: Travel Alarm

I agree, I'd like to see this too. There are clocks out there, but none get the idea quite right- a simple, large font digital clock.

That software is almost perfect. It just needs to cost less money.

This does look like what I was thinking of. There's a 10-day free trial. I'll give it a try.

Re: Travel Alarm

SPB Time will do this, its screen saver. big software button as a snooze.

except i haven't figured out how to get it to rotate. and its even more expensive than DelMar. but it cost less than my last alarm clock.

Re: Travel Alarm

The DelMar alarm clock does appear to be what I was looking for. You can select the color of the numbers and background, making the background black and with the numbers a fairly dark color it will not light up the room. If you touch the screen the background will become bright white, thus acting as a night light. There is a sleep button that when pushed will play sound files, such as crashing waves, to help you sleep. Setting the alarm is very easy. The last piece of the puzzle came when I set up the following reg tweak:

http://pocketnow.com/thought/bringin...-touch-diamond

which allows me to manually rotate the screen to the correct orientation using the multimedia key. In the landscape orientation the clock numbers basically fill the entire screen. The only real drawback of the program is that the graphics are not that great, but and in the end, I don't need a lot of eye candy, just good functionality.
