Question Clear Storage vs Hard Reset

Is there a difference between the two? Does a hard reset revert any reg edits you've done to original factory settings? Thanks...

Re: Clear Storage vs Hard Reset

clear storage IS a hard reset. it returns the phone back to the factory settings, meaning everything gets wiped off the phone.

Re: Clear Storage vs Hard Reset

Even changes you've made to the system registry revert to factory?

Re: Clear Storage vs Hard Reset

Clear Storage is a hard reset. So all changes made will be wiped.

Re: Clear Storage vs Hard Reset

Clear storage is a deeper clean than a hardware key hardreset. The hardware key hard reset resets the rom and registry back but the difference is the clear storage wipes the non volatile memory back to shipped settings also (ie the #778 menu). That will restore the phone number back to shipped of 000-000-1234 etc. the mip profiles back to shipped default and the PRI back to shipped default. If you have one that you did a carrier conversion on the hard reset is ok but the clear storage will kill any NV settings you changed for the new carrier.

Re: Clear Storage vs Hard Reset

Quite right. There is 2 options in Clear Storage section, the factory settings option clear all user file, information and NVM. So u have to reactivate your phone, I think. The NVM clear may solve some phone problems caused by miss configed ##778 etc.
