Google Sync

Just thought I would relay my experience with Google Sync- a google-based exchange server

First of all: syncing calendars. This works almost perfectly. I have my outlook calendar syncing with an online gmail account using Google Calendar sync. Then I have Google Sync uploading calendar data to my phone. If I change something on my phone, it changes on my outlook computer, and vice versa. For those of us without a real exchange server, its much easier than constantly active-syncing our computers. The one strange thing is that when the imagio buzzes me for a reminder of an event, it usually does the intended event, plus one other random event from the past. Very weird. But if you just ignore that second reminder, it works perfectly.

Secondly: syncing IMAP gmail. This did not work too well. Google sync only added a days worth of email to my phone, even though i requested 3 days. Very strange behavior. Gmail IMAP without google sync works fine, and i can survive without the instant emails, but its too bad this doesn't work properly.

Re: Google Sync

I found that using the initial mail setup wizard for Google Sync DOES NOT WORK CORRECTLY.

Open active sync, remove your exchange server account (Google) then add a server source (m.google.com) using active sync, not the wizard, and it works flawlessly.

Re: Google Sync

As I mentioned above, the only issue I had with google calendar sync was that it was popping up extra reminders at the same time relevant reminders pop up. Otherwise, I am not getting duplicate events as you described.

Re: Google Sync

Could you monitor it for about a week and post back up. Mine was working perfectly at first also. It took about a week or two of syncing with the server before I noticed that the duplicates were occuring. It was primarily with events created in google calendar. Holidays, Birthdays & anniversarys were the main offenders. Single appointments weren't a big issue.

Re: Google Sync

I'm not the best person to do that, as I don't usually input events into google calendar online, and i dont use it for holidays, birthdays and anniversaries either...

Re: Google Sync

I am having a delay problem in syncing Imagio calendar with Google Sync. I set the sync schedule to manual to save battery. If I put a new event on my Google calendar, and sync immediately, and new event won't show up in my Imagio calendar. If I do it the day after, it will.

Moreover, I added several holiday calendars onto my Google calendar, but they never show up in my Imagio calendar.

Any suggestions to fix these two porblems?
