Screen Not Dimming With Auto Shut Off Disabled?

Please bear with me as this may be a dumb newbie question. I searched every post on this sub-section and was unable to find an answer. ](*,)

Got the Imagio for my wife and she's loving it (we had Storms previous- bad, bad mojo). She uses Groovefish to stream music and the stock dimmer setting will shut down the player after the time limit is reached. No problem, right? Changed the setting to stop this (never auto shut down on battery power).

Now, the screen will dim somewhat when left idle, but never shuts down all the way. It's dim but still active. She's been having to change the setting every time in order to not kill the battery.

Should the screen power down all the way while leaving the device active (like hitting the "shut off screen option" after holding the end button)? If not, is there a way to do this?

Thanks for any insight you may be able to provide. I've done nothing but Blackberries for years and this is my first real foray into WinMo.

So you've gone into All Settings on the Settings Tab, System, then Power and under Advanced unchecked "Turn off device if not used for..." option under battery power, and set the backlight to go off after "X" amount of time?

Thanks for the quick reply.

That is correct. Dimming is enabled, "turn device off" is disabled. With these settings, the screen will dim but not all the way. Obviously, this has a negative effect on battery life.

With both enabled, the native TF3D media player will continue to function when the device goes into partial shutdown (lock). It seems that Groovefish (and who knows what other 3rd party apps) shuts off with the phone.

Ideally, I'd like the screen to dim all the way down but not go into that partial shut down mode.

Cheers!

I posted a possible solution on your XDA-Developers post, see if that app helps you out.

Referring to using xdaShutdown to go into "lightsout" mode rather than Sleep to shut the screen all the way off, but still be "awake" for the app to run.
