Re: GPS not working, why?
Now there are two different places you need to turn it on. One matters more than the other. Did you turn on the location service from the locations settings program (the one that asks you if the HTC location is okay to use), or did you go into your settings->phone and turn it on there? I believe it's under the CDMA settings tab when you open up the phone options.

Re: GPS not working, why?
Yes, I turn the "Location on" in both places.
Well, I got it to work by tinkering the setting under "External GPS" Program and Hardware ports. However, I turned off my cell phone last night, and when I turned it back on this morning. The GPS does not work again. It just cannot locate any satellites. I play again with port number under External GPS setting, but I forgot what I set at last night. Could any of you take a look at your External GPS setting to see what port number that your program and hardware are set at? Thanks again! |

Re: GPS not working, why?
Ok, I found some posts in other forum about the GPS, so I have the following settings:
Program Port: COM4 Hardware Port: None, at 4800 BUDS Location on for all settings I also ran QuickGPS to make sure I have the most up-to-date data. However, I am still not able to connect the GPS, and it was working in Google Maps and Bing last night before I turned on my phone. This is driving me crazy... Someone please helps? I would greatly appreciate it!!! Last edited by chrysalis; 10-16-2009 at 11:15 AM. |

Re: GPS not working, why?
those settings look correct. a problem i ran into with my Titan a while back (which it would probably still apply to the imagio) is since I didn't have a data plan, i had to disable the aGPS, essentially telling the GPS to work on its own. During the startup of Garmin, for example, it tries to download satelite information by itself with your data plan. if you don't have one, it will keep retrying, which causes the satelite lock to take much longer (10+min). Do you, perhaps, live in an area with poor data coverage? Are you using the wifi when you say you used quickGPS?
Another thing to consider is where you are when you're trying to get a lock. You won't get a very good one if you're in, say, an office building. |

Re: GPS not working, why?
Thanks for sharing the information. I do have a data plan, and I am on Verizon wireless without refreshing the original ROM. The thing is that the GPS was working last night at home, but not working in my office.
Thoughts? |

Re: GPS not working, why?
At least there's a location associated with when it works. Try it again at home to see if you have any more luck. Your office might be a dead spot for GPS radio frequencies. Your best bet is to try it in your car or outside. If that doesn't work, then there's something odd about your phone specifically.
