How to unlock GPS on Verizon HTC Imagio

Got the new HTC Imagio and so far I am impressed. But I found that I cannot use the internal GPS for Google maps or the included Bing Maps. Anyway to get this setup to talk to any apps other then VZ Navigator?

Make sure in the phone settings that your location is set to on.

Re: How to unlock GPS on Verizon HTC Imagio

Just run QuickGPS, and it should ask you to turn on location settings. The GPS is not locked at all

Re: How to unlock GPS on Verizon HTC Imagio

Aww Sweet! I wish I would have known about QuickGPS this this morning.. I thought it was another subscription service so I stayed away from it. I was driving through Wyoming and Colorado through dense fog and slick roads.. not sure where I was or if I had even crossed to Border yet.. LoL!

This Phone is really nice.. That was my only complaint was access to the GPS.. I'm in Denver this week and the Mobile TV is awsome.. No hesitation what so ever and Audio is loud and the little "Kickstand" works great for watching tv while hacking away on this computer....

GPS locked up right away and I love the Walking maps with Bing.. Had some crashes with the Opera Browser and noticed the slow screen updates on IE.. Had to reset last night because of some slowness I noticed. But I guess we will figure out Optimizations soon..

Another Quirk I found is that you have to click on the "Bars" to see battery status, if you click on the battery indicator itself, you see running programs status.

This Phone was an upgrade from the Verizon 6700 (HTC Apache).. I'm impressed.. Now just waiting for the Windows Mobile 7 upgrade (6.5 was intermittent)

wow, thats quite a jump from the 6700 to Imagio....I had the 6700 3 devices ago, lol.

fyi- the Imagio will not support WM7, plus it will be probably another yr b4 we'll see WM7.

Re: How to unlock GPS on Verizon HTC Imagio

I have owned a lot of cell phones - htc 6700, 6800, 6900 and most recently, an Omnia i900. In every case, I have personilize with new roms and purchased programs..All these phones were OK but none of them really compare to the Imagio. I have only had it for a few hours but it seems to me that it does everything a phone can be asked to do. I find that it is terrific right out of box. I know that a tinker with in but I'm really happy the way it is.

A happy camper.

Re: How to unlock GPS on Verizon HTC Imagio

Hi OMJ,

Is there any way that WM7 could be flashed on the Imagio in the future? Even if multi touch was not supported? I sure do like the Imagio but would like it to be flashable with a custom rom in the future.

Thank you in advance. We all appreciate your work OMJ.

Mike
