How I got a new phone at contract price...
So I got very tired of my slow, buggy, laggy Imagio that no one makes new apps for. I decided I wanted a Droid X like my brother. I've only had my Imagio for nine months. Here is how I got them to give me the Droid X under contract:
I called Verizon Support. Told the computer I wanted to cancel my service. The rep answered the phone Me: How much would it cost to buyout of my phone contract? Rep: For all 3 lines? It will be (pause) 300-something dollars. Me: Oh, that's all? I thought it would be more than that. Rep: Is there a specific problem you're having? Me: My Imagio's button is stuck and this will be the third time I have sent it in. I am tired of this piece of crap phone so I want to buyout my contract and get a new phone with another carrier. My wife's phone was stolen (this is true, wasn't making this up) and didn't have insurance so she needs a new phone too. Rep: Well here are your options: Blah blah blah...or I can talk to my manager about pushing the upgrade date up on two of your lines. Me: That sounds great, let's do that Rep: I will call you back after I talk to my manager. (Ten minutes later) Ok my manager approved it, you should now be eligible to purchase at the two year contract price. Me: Thanks for your help! So there you go, my Droid X arrived 3 days later. And it is awesome! Hope this helps someone in a similar situation. |

LOL and now you're on the hook for two more years with verizon for what two phones and $750 EFF
they had you at hello. The fact remains you can get phone upgrade deals anytime after SIX MONTHS into a contract as long as you keep renewing/extending. |
