Tactics to get VZW to replace with ??

Okay so I've given the Imagio a good run. I'm running an NRG rom that makes the device bearable but I still get lockups daily. I'd probably be fine for another year (end of 2yr contract) except that my wife just got the Droid X. Are you kidding me? That device is so incredibly superior from a hardware and OS standpoint it's silly!

So what I'm wondering is if any of you have some suggestions on how to engage VZW to potentially get my Imagio replaced with another device (or credit towards another device) running Android instead of WinMo. Please spare me any WinMo is so much better than Android banter. To each his own and I've used them both pretty extensively.

So....any thoughts? Approaches that worked in the past? Nope, I don't have insurance on the device.

No, unfortunately that wont happen. a multi-exchange is for a comparable device. since most android phones have higher specs than the imagio, they will claim android is not comparable. perhaps you could try for an old android phone, if you want to do that pm and ill tell you the process i use. but theres really no point in going through all of this to get an older android phone you know? i would check out some of the deals on amazon or ebay, or see what people are selling on here and xda.

VZW won't allow it without extending your contract.

Re: Tactics to get VZW to replace with ??

they'd love to lock you in for another year and $375 ETF.

it's almost September. you should easily be able to pickup any new phone at the one-year price and add a year. unfortunately that extends your contract until October 2012. So you'll have a 3G phone with specs of the HD2 from Nov 2009 until Oct 2012.

If you bitch & moan and build a strong case you might be able to pay 1-year price and NOT extend your contract. This assumes the phone was sent several replacements and works better if your phone is discontinued (imagio is not).

If the imagio is unlivable i'd buy the phone at full price and NOT extend the contract myself.

they will replace it without extending your contract. just with an older android device that you probably wouldnt be too interested in and after a very lengthy process. and no they wouldnt charge you.

Or just sell your phone on ebay, still worth some money if you have all accessories, box and phone in good condition.

Re: Tactics to get VZW to replace with ??

Im in the same boat as you. I just cant take the Imagio any longer and I have already replaced this think five times. I'm approaching my one year mark on my contract too. I have all ready talked to the associates at the VZW store and they told me you can sign another two year contract at the one year mark and still get a phone for the two year contract price. I also do not have insurance. So I plan on waiting till Oct/Nov and buying a new one for the $200 price tag and selling my Imagio on ebay to some sucker for around the same price.

Re: Tactics to get VZW to replace with ??

If you've gotten the phone replaced that many times, they should have given you a new device (three replacements). When you're at that point, you can ask the rep if they can substitute a comparable device instead. No guarantees, but worst case, you'll get a new Imagio. This strategy will work better if your phone has been discontinued though.

Yeah except there was no comparable device. They wanted to give me an HTC Eris.
