cant flash roms on new laptop
 

i flashed 2 different roms on my imagio on my previous laptop. that laptop is now dead and i have a new compaq presario. i tried to flash a new rom and nothing would happen. anyone have any ideas?

Wouldn't happen to be Windows 7 / Vista on there, would it? You need to run these kinds of programs in administrator, so right click the program file and choose "Run as Administrator" or disable UAC completely.

Are you getting an ActiveSync connection? Windows Mobile Device Center launches and/or you see the USB icon on top of the phone where the 3G/1X would be?

hey, i tried the right click as admin, and nothing happens when i click on the RUU .exe file? any more ideas, i really want to flash another ROM.

do i need to run the unlocker before EACH rom flash? i have also done a hard reset, do i need to unlock it again?

No the Hard SPL is only done once and the phone is unlocked for good. So are you saying when you run the ROM Update exe nothing happens at all? Or do you get the Wizard and it errors out in some way? If nothing happens, maybe you have an AV program that is blocking it thinking it is harmful (false positive) or something. Disable your anti-virus and try it again. Otherwise I'm not sure why that would happen. I have Win 7 x64 and can run it normally with no problems.

yes. i follow the instructions perfectly and nothing happens! no error, nothing at all...

Did you try disabling any AV program you might have? If you look in the Task manager Process tab does that exe show up there after you try running it or does it open in there, then close?
