Imagio charging problem

Hi guys,

I've had my Imagio since launch, but in the last two weeks it's gotten very picky about how the charger cable is positioned in the slot. It's gotten bad enough that if it it's not just *so*, it won't charge at all and I'll go to grab it off the charger, only to find a completely dead battery.

It happens with several MiniUSB chargers that I have, including the OEM Imagio one, as well as just plain MiniUSB cables.

Will Verizon do anything for me with a warranty situation? Or am I just SOL?

Just call Verizon and say that your phone is constantly locking up and unusable. If it's under the year warranty, then you will get sent a refurb.

Re: Imagio charging problem

Yup, I called them while I was on the road this morning and they're sending a refurb out on Monday. Hopefully the unit they send out doesn't have a button problem, since mine doesn't currently have that issue.

Just have to get into the old one I guess and reflash the stock rom and relock it. fun times!

Re: Imagio charging problem

I avoid charging my phones because I don't want my phone to be tied up to a charger, so I always charge the battery. A side effect of this is that the USB port doesn't get much wear and tear, which is quite nice. A battery charger for the Imagio is about $10, and OEM batteries are about the same price as well.

Re: Imagio charging problem

I have the same problem with the charging cable being finicky. Interestingly though, it only applies to the car charger. When it's plugged into the wall it always charges fine, but in the car I have to place the cable "just right".

I definitely would like a link to where you got a battery charger for $10 and the battery for $10.

yes!! I have this also. But I don't think it's entirely the charger. Every once in a while, the little red charging light won't come on no matter how I play with the cord. In those cases, I've rebooted the phone and then it charges perfectly. A software issue?!? I'm using the stock Verizon ROM in case it matters.
