Battery Life difference with Push email

I just thought I'd relay my experiences with battery life. Up until now, I had Windows Live Hotmail set to deliver emails immediately, "As items arrive". I would unplug my phone in the morning at about 7am with 100%, and it would be down to 15% or less by 9pm. (Worse if I actually did some heavy usage). I recently decided that I didn't really need to get emails instantly. I instead set it to once every 15 minutes. Now, at the end of the day, my battery still has about 50-60% of its charge!

So moral of the story- push email is a HUGE drain on battery life.

Yes, yes it is. One of the biggest battery savers is to do what you described.

Re: Battery Life difference with Push email

Thats a big difference. I had mine constantly synced to my exchange all day long, off at nite and never went below 60%. I did tether some tho which recharged it a bit. just my .02

Re: Battery Life difference with Push email

The best way to do it is to foward your emails to exchange which pushes them. With exchange on full push I get far better battery life 2 to 3x better than with 2 emails account set on 30 minute and 60 min pulls. Exchange uses heartbeat packets where push hotmail which works different eats your battery alive.
