Remote control TV and garage door opener software via your fone.
 

Anyone have any software that can do this. I remember on my old samsung i710 i was able to do this with a remote control software on it for the TV, DVD, VCR etc

Garage door opener would be cool so i dont have to carry the opener around LOL

I don't think the phone has an IR emitter so I don't think you will get your wish.

I think there are programs, at least for the TV/DVD etc, that can use Bluetooth if you have newer equipment in your home to control them. I think Phil is right though, no IR port so no luck that way.

Phil....Oh snaps thats right the i710 had an IR port, i was wondering what was up with it missing, such a cool feature though

Carla.... Hummm i'll take a look at the bluetooth software but yea none of ma stuff is that new, oh well was worth a shot......

Verizon has an app that allows you to control their FIOS DVR via a WIFI connection. It also does things like silence the TV (or maybe pause?) when a call comes in. I tried it quickly but couldn't get it to connect to the DVR. More important to me was another app that allows me to program the DVR when I'm not at home.

Of course none of this does you any good if you're not a FIOS customer.


Garage door openers are typically RF, I don't remember any phone having the right kind of additional radio to do that.
